Walsall Council celebrates South Asian Heritage Month
Published on
A free celebratory event will take place at Walsall Arboretum on Saturday 26 July 2025, inviting residents from across the borough to come together and honour South Asian Heritage Month.

The community event has been organised by ‘The Roots Group’, a passionate team of foster carers and social workers within Walsall Council.
Hosted by local influencer Roshni Pink and featuring music from DJ Rumit, the event takes place from 11am to 3pm at the Walsall Arboretum Orchard Pavilion, WS5 3AA. Entry is free to this drop-in event, and it promises to be a lively and inclusive atmosphere for all ages.
South Asian Heritage Month, observed annually from 18July to 17 August, commemorates, celebrates and educates others about the cultural legacy of South Asian communities in the UK. It highlights the contributions of individuals with heritage from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
This year’s theme, ‘Roots to Routes’, invites residents to reflect on their personal and ancestral journeys through cultural activities, performances and storytelling. The event will explore how these experiences shape identity and community, and celebrate the vibrant traditions that connect generations.
“ South Asian Heritage Month is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes Walsall such a vibrant place to live.
Events like these not only honour the journeys and contributions of our South Asian communities but also bring people together through shared experiences, traditions and stories.
I encourage everyone to come along and take part in what promises to be a fantastic celebration. “
“ As we mark South Asian Heritage Month, I encourage everyone to join us in what’s set to be a great celebration of culture and traditions, making new memories while learning more about the history that has shaped our community today.
