Gro Health is available to young people aged 12-19 and their families in Walsall.

Gro Health, an award-winning service delivered by DDM Health, in partnership with Walsall Council Public Health, will provide young people and their families with tailored support to eat well, move more and boost confidence.

Overweight and obesity among both children and adults is a significant challenge in Walsall. Weight-related challenges in children and young people can have an impact on both physical and mental health and wellbeing and can lead to developing chronic health conditions in adult life.

The new Gro Health service in Walsall offers free, personalised support to young people and their families, both digitally and face-to-face. The service includes healthy lifestyle sessions, guidance on choosing and preparing nutritious foods, and physical activities designed to build confidence. It also provides access to reliable digital resources and self-care tools.

This will build on national guidance from NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) and support the Council and We Are Walsall 2040 ambitions to be thriving and happy, and healthy and well.

“ We are excited to launch this new service for young people and their families in Walsall. Our goal is to empower them to live healthier and more active lives, which is key to improving health outcomes across the borough.

We hope this new service will create opportunities for developing positive relationships with food and physical activity in the daily lives of our young people and families, enabling them to thrive. “

Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Health and Wellbeing
Walsall Council
