Have your say on local health, wellbeing and care in Walsall

Published on

Residents, communities and partner organisations across the borough are invited to have their say on a set of draft plans that will shape how health, wellbeing and care services are delivered in the coming years for people of all ages.

A joint consultation has launched on three key plans and strategies: the Walsall Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2026-2030), Neighbourhood Health and Care Plan (2026-2030) and the Adult Social Care Strategy (2026-2031).

The Walsall Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2026-2030 focuses on seven key themes that support people to live healthy lives throughout the life course. Walsall’s Neighbourhood Health and Care Plan (2026-2030) aims to deliver more integrated, preventative and accessible care closer to home through collaborative work with partners locally. The Adult Social Care Strategy 2026-2031 is about helping people stay independent, putting people at the centre of their care, and making support easier to access. It also focuses on keeping people safe and treating them with respect, supporting family and friends who play a key role in care, and making sure good care is available now and in the future.

Together, they are about helping people stay healthy, ensuring support is easier to get, making sure services work well together and focusing on what matters most to people.

The draft plans and strategies have been shaped using local data to improve understanding of health, wellbeing and care needs across Walsall, alongside discussions with partners and stakeholders, helping to identify key themes and priorities.

“ Health, wellbeing and care affect everyone who lives, works or studies in Walsall. These draft plans set out how we want to improve services, make support easier to access and work more closely with partners to help people live healthier, more independent lives. We are keen to hear your views on what matters most so we can shape the final plans and ensure they reflect the needs of our communities, now and in the future. “

Councillor Matt Eason, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Health and Wellbeing
Walsall Council

“ Adult social care plays a vital role in helping people to live independently, stay safe and maintain their wellbeing. This draft strategy is about putting people at the heart of their care, supporting carers and ensuring we have sustainable, high-quality services for the future. We want to hear from residents, families and those who use services so we can shape support that truly reflects people’s needs and aspirations. “

Councillor Peter Harrison, Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care
Walsall Council

“ Neighbourhood health is about bringing health, care, housing and community organisations together to work in a more joined-up way. By centring support around individuals and families, we can help people stay independent and well for longer. Working as one team allows us to share resources, information and expertise to provide personalised care closer to home, improving access to services and helping to reduce inequalities. We want residents and partners to share their views so that, together, we can shape services around what matters most to local people. “
