Deadline for secondary school admissions fast approaching
Published on
Parents and carers in Walsall are reminded that the deadline for applying for a secondary school place for September 2026 is Thursday 31 October 2025.

Children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 are due to transfer to secondary school (Year 7) next September.
Applications must be submitted online via the Walsall Council website before the closing date. Late applications risk missing out on a place at one of your preferred schools.
Visit the council’s website to find out more about school admissions and how to submit your application: https://go.walsall.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/school-admissions
Top tips for deciding on your school preferences:
- You should include five schools on your application, and list them in order of preference.
- If you only express a preference for a single school, you risk being offered a place that you are unhappy with.
- You should also choose schools that your child has a realistic chance of getting in to.
“ Since secondary school applications opened in September, our admissions teams have been supporting parents and carers to submit their online applications on time.
The deadline is now fast approaching, so if you have not submitted your application yet, please make sure you do so ahead of the deadline next week, and be sure to utilise all five preferences.
Families without internet access, or those who need assistance with the application process can visit their nearest Walsall Connected centre or contact our school admissions team who will be able to help you. “
