Candidates announced for Pelsall by-election

Candidates have now been announced for the by-election to elect a new representative for the Pelsall Ward of Walsall Council on Thursday 11 September 2025.

Pelsall High Street

The candidates are:

Dan Barker, Liberal Democrat

Joe Belcher, Green Party

Lee Michael James Chapman, The Conservative Party Candidate

Graham Eardley, Reform UK 

Hannah Jones, Labour Party Candidate

 

This by-election concerns registered electors in the Pelsall Ward of Walsall only. Residents living in other areas of the borough are not eligible to vote.

Poll cards have started to be sent out this week and everyone registered and eligible to vote in the by-election will receive a poll card through the post. 

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday 11 September 2025. The Count will take place later the same evening and it is anticipated that the result will be declared around midnight. Please follow the council’s social media accounts on Facebook and X for the latest news and information.

When voting in person, please remember to take your voter ID with you to the polling station. This applies to everyone who votes in person or by proxy. Suitable photographic ID accepted at the polling station includes a UK passport or driving licence. A full list of acceptable identification can be found at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/voter-id

If you don’t have any suitable ID, you can apply for a free voter authority certificate at: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate 

If you are not on the electoral register, the deadline to register and be eligible to vote in this by-election is Tuesday 26 August 2025. You can register to vote at: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

If you want to change the way you vote, please be aware of the following deadlines:

  • Wednesday 27 August 2025, 5pm - Deadline to apply for a postal vote.
  • Wednesday 3 September 2025, 5pm - Deadline to apply for a proxy vote (appointing someone to vote on their behalf).            
  • Wednesday 3 September 2025, 5pm - Deadline to apply for a free voter authority certificate.
