Carers
A carer is someone who helps a family member, partner, or friend who needs support. This could be because they are ill, older, disabled, or have mental health needs or an addiction. Carers do this without getting paid. If you’re under 18, you are a young carer.
You might not realise you’re a carer. Most people will care for someone at some point in their lives by:
- helping with daily tasks, personal care, or housework
- giving emotional support
- helping with health needs or speaking on someone’s behalf
Carers often balance this with work, school, or other responsibilities. We want you to stay well and have time for your own life too.
