Understanding Forced Marriage, 'Honour' Based Violence & Female Genital Mutilation

This Multi-Agency training course will increase professionals confidence in identifying victims of Forced Marriage, so-called 'Honour' Based Violence and Female Genital Mutilation. This module will enable practitioners to safely and appropriately support and refer victims.

Level 2 – Awareness 

This course is for staff and volunteers across the partnership who work with or have contact with children, adults and their families/carers and who may be in a position to identify concerns and who have a responsibility to contribute to recognise and report abuse and harm.

Learning Outcomes:

  • To define 'honour-based' violence/abuse ​
  • Distinguish features between a forced/arranged marriage ​
  • Understand the law in regards to HBV, FM & FGM ​
  • Refresh knowledge around types of FGM ​
  • Explore signs and indicators of FGM ​
  • Gain a further understanding around support services available
