Kickstart Vacancies at Walsall FC Community Programme

Post: Community Connector Sports Coach

Employer: Walsall FC Community Programme (WFCCP)

Responsible to: Walsall FC Community Officers then Community Manager

Main Purpose:

To work with full time WFCCP staff to engage and connect with local Community Groups situated within the vicinity of the Banks’s Stadium. The role will include delivery of engagement football sessions and invitations for local residents to attend matches.

Job Context:

The post holder will continue to develop football and related activities within Walsall undertaking the Strategic development objectives of WFCCP. The post holder will ensure the continued improvement in standards of service delivery through participation via community links, out of school hour activities, and opportunities for potential progression  pathways. They will be expected to develop Daytime and Evening Community Football activities.

Purpose of Post:

This job will be multi-disciplined and will require the post holder to work within Walsall.
You will liaise and work closely with Walsall FC and other partners to assist with community football and sport development and community club links across the Borough.

Duties:

  • To help deliver, appropriately, all WFCCP activities under the FL Trust 4 key themes (Health, Education, Sports Participation, Social Inclusion)

  • Assist the work of your Line Manager/Community Officer

  • To help and support in the organisation, planning, promotion and delivery of coaching sessions.

  • To help assist in the development of sports provision in designated communities and/or with target groups.

  • To help undertake the safe delivery of sports activities to current governing body standards and codes of practice.

  • To help ensure health and safety guidelines are enforced.

  • To support work within local schools and support the establishment of PPA lessons, after school clubs, competitions and school holiday sessions.

  • To be prepared to work in the evening and weekend on a regular basis.

  • Ensure participation registers are correctly completed.

  • To help prepare session plans, evaluations and information as required.

  • To help maintain all relevant equipment.

  • Promote the value of sport in the community.

  • To work closely with all staff members in organising WFCCP activities.

  • To undertake any other duties the job may require.

As part of this role you will undertake a full DBS check.

Hours of Work: 25 hours per week including evening and weekend work. Whilst normal office hours generally apply, you will also be expected to be flexible in working additional hours when needed for occasional one off events, when time off in lieu hours may be accrued.

Person Specification:

  1. FA Coaching level 1 (Desirable)
  2. First Aid (Desirable)
  3. An up-to-date FA Child Protection certificate (desirable.)
  4. Good Communication skills
  5. Trust worthy and honest
  6. Reliable and punctual
  7. Ability to work to deadlines.
  8. Ability to work with others
  9. A passion for sport and coaching

Successful applicants will be given full support and potential training opportunities during their 6 months, a full Walsall FC tracksuit and access to match tickets to work with the local communities that they represent.
