Trainee Skills & Employment Advisor

The Skills, Employment and Education (SEE) requirements in the delivery of the Enabling Works Contract, Area North; provide an opportunity to positively impact the local area through the creation of jobs, apprenticeships, training, careers and education engagement. Working with HS2, key strategic and locally based partners we will ensure our workforce reflects the communities we work in ensuring diversity, inclusion and respect sits at the heart of the HS2 Scheme.  

This is a full time permanent role but flexibility in the role will be considered depending on the successful candidate.

The skills, employment and education (SEE) function within LM links back to the Social Sustainability function in the parent company of Laing O’Rourke. On a day to day basis the role will work closely with the EDI Representative in LM, parent company HC teams and the LM supply chain:

To support the delivery of the project’s SEE plan including educational engagement, supply chain management and data gathering

  • Support employees within the project team to participate in educational engagement
  • Co-ordinate the educational activity calendar and engage the wider project team via monthly education bulletins
  • Liaise with the client and external partners to identify education projects, schemes and activities that the project team and supply chain can participate in
  • Support the management and facilitation of work experience placements across the project
  • Encourage members of staff to become a STEM Ambassador and champion this by undertaking the training
  • Report to line manager any risks or issues in delivery
  • Contribute to team meetings, offering solutions and sharing best practice
  • Undertake monthly engagement phone calls with the LM supply chain

Support the SEE team manager in gathering supply chain data

  • but not essential as this will be taught
