Apprentice Warehouse Operative

The apprentice will play an important role in the day to day planning, organisation and smooth running of the warehouse within the Logistics Division, to ensure all daily tasks and business objectives are met.

Vacancy description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to work within a busy warehouse environment at A.F. Blakemore, based in Willenhall.

The first 3 months of the apprenticeship scheme you will be working 7am-3pm and you will complete the following training modules:

  • Full goods receipt training
  • Assembly training
  • Hygiene training
  • Day out with driver

Between 3 – 6 months you will rotate in teams weekly between 7am – 3pm and 11am – 7pm. You will continue to cover the above roles and in addition complete the following training modules:

  • QC training
  • Stocks training
  • Freezer training
  • Milk team training

At 6 months, we will offer fork lift truck training providing you have completed your training successfully up to that stage. You will continue to rotate the 2 shift patterns and cover the areas you have been trained in on a rota basis.

At 9 months Blakemore will offer loading training and/or dispatch training and again continue with the rota until 12 months has been completed.

Desired qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) grade D/3 or above in English and Maths.

Future prospects

Opportunity to attend the ‘Warehouse and Distribution Warehouse to Wheels’ scheme to achieve full HGV licence and/or attend a Blakemore Logistics People with Potential Day. Successful applicants will attend an ILM Level 2 programme in Leadership and Team Skills and be appointed to supervisor role.
