Qualifications Required

  • GCSE maths grade: D (3) or equivalent
  • GCSE English grade: D (3) or equivalent
  • Proficient in reading and writing
  • Able to speak, receive, and issue instructions in English without the risk of misunderstanding

Maintenance Duties:

  • To comply with statutory and other relevant requirements in particular those related to the departments policies and procedures and Health and Safety
  • To participate in gritting and snow clearance in accordance with the “Policy and Procedure Relating to Gritting and Snow Clearance”
  • Undertake a wide range of unskilled estates duties with training as necessary, e.g. lamp changing, unblocking toilets, cleaning ventilation terminals
  • Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) is carried out efficiently and promptly on a weekly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly frequency or as indicated by the Engineering/Building Team Leaders
  • To notify the Engineering/Building Team Leaders or Manager of any anomalies deficiencies within the PPM system
  • Ensure that all repairs are carried out without undue delay and that Engineering/Building Team Leaders or Manager is informed of expected delays or advised of the need for the service and repair of equipment by tradesmen or specialist contractors
  • Fully understand the inter-relationship between Estates and the end user
  • Maintain communication with the end user providing progress reports, details of work and general update of work in progress and to advise of any undue delays in carrying out work
  • Fully understand the inter-relationship between the various maintenance trades, skilled craftsmen and be part of an Estates Team
  • Assist in the manufacture, assemble, and erection of new work, using machinery and general workshop equipment
  • To use all relevant equipment, tools and test instruments
  • To ensure the cleanliness of the workplace, removing all surplus materials from the area of work, including security of tools and equipment
  • Undertake training where necessary, to learn new techniques, i.e. Control of Legionella, permit to work, working at heights
  • Comply with statutory and other relevant guidelines, in particular those related to the departments policies and procedures and Health and Safety policy, encouraged to comment in the light of experience to improve safety and service delivery
  • To use materials, substances with regard to Health and Safety and COSHH Regulations
  • Assist other trades as and when required
  • To Carry Trust communication devices (pagers, two way radios, mobile phones) at all times when at work. This is to facilitate immediate response to emergencies
  • May be required to work overtime as and when required.  Whilst there is no overtime on regular basis, circumstances may require overtime to be carried out at short notice
  • Will be required to work at other properties around the Trust
  • Demonstrates total commitment to versatility and flexibility and respond to the needs of staff and patients
  • There is an ongoing requirement to exert light physical effort during most of shift

Gardening duties:

  • You will also be required to undertake a range of gardening duties as and when required
