Project: High Speed Rail (HS2) & Local Connectivity
Description: £56 billion project that will deliver a high speed rail link between London and Birmingham with two Birmingham Stations – Curzon Street and near Birmingham Airport – reducing journey times to 50 minutes. Walsall will work to ensure fast, efficient links and connectivity to the Birmingham HS2 stations, including delivery of the Chase Line Electrification.
Timescales: Phase 1 London to Birmingham to complete in 2026
Phase 2 Birmingham to Manchester/Leeds to complete in 2033
Project: M6 Junction 10 Improvements (M6J10)
Description: £65 million project to improve the strategic motorway junction in Walsall, designed to reduce congestion and improve journey time reliability through the area for businesses and residents.
Timescales: Start 2018
Completion 2020
