WAHP-Work

Many Asians chose to come to Walsall because of employment opportunities. As more communities were established they attracted more families and friends. Employers quickly realised the potential these people had and some companies gave vouchers to their employees so that they could sponsor other people.

Q. How did you find the work?

“ The work was fine, because that was an area where I was gaining training and I was trained to do the motor vehicle engineering and it was good, at first it was good because it was actually you know doing the work and you know I was hydraulic and pneumatic machines it was the heavy machinery and working and then working and starting then the engines and then starting the engines and when it started you know first time that I sort of worked on the engine, it was good satisfaction that you would get, brilliant, that is something I have done. “

Q. How did you find the work? And what work did you do?

“ Work was I am not happy with the work but I have to because I can’t believe that go again to India and that’s why I tried to get another job but I believe that could not find it. Some people say that there is no way you got the other job only you have to only as labourer because nobody would whenever go to other factory and applied for the job say there is no we haven’t got that type of job. “
