Review of parliamentary constituencies 2023

Did you know that parliamentary constituencies are set to change?

The independent Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is drawing the map of constituencies in England. It needs your help to shape its final recommendations, and wants to make sure that it considers local knowledge and views.

The BCE considers every piece of feedback that it receives. This includes where the boundaries should be, and the names of the constituencies.

Public hearing second consultation phase

To book a time slot to make oral representation at the public hearings visit the public hearings page on the BCE website.

You will be invited to register via Eventbrite. The BCE have published a step by step guide for booking via Eventbrite.

The only speaking slots automatically reserved are:

  • on the morning of the first day of the first hearing in each region
  • for the centrally-designated official spokesperson of each of the qualifying political parties (Conservative, Green, Labour, Liberal Democrat) to present each party's views on our proposals across the whole of that region

It is planned to publish the representations received during the first consultation period on the BCE reviews website on 7 February. This is to allow people a good opportunity to read and consider their views on these representations before the consultation on them starts on 22 February. Because the length of the consultation period is fixed by law, we will not be able to accept or consider any comments received prior to this latter date.

While Covid remains a concern the BCE plan to take proportionate steps in line with official guidance.  You can find further details published in the BCE guide to public hearings.
