Walsall Council gains national recognition at IRRV Awards

Walsall Council’s ‘Money Home Job’ service gained national recognition on 09 October at the national IRRV (Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation) Awards.

Walsall Council was named winner of “Most Improved Team of the Year” in the Welfare Benefits category.  The Council’s Money, Home, Job team faced tough competition at this year’s IRRV Performance Awards Gala event held in Telford, Shropshire. Five other local authorities and strong contenders nominated in the same category were; Birmingham, Colchester, Edinburgh, Great Yarmouth and Mid Sussex. The national event was well attended and hosted by the popular entertainer and comedian Lee Hurst.  

The IRRV Awards Panel asked the Money, Home, Job team to demonstrate improvements over a three-year period from a range of national and local performance indicators across several service areas.  How the council achieved and maintained its results- including;

·       speed at which claims were dealt with,

·       quality of work

·       staff development

·       working with partners for the wider good of customers

·       use of modern technology to interact and assist customers

·       continuous development of the service

This is a front facing and highly visible customer service team at the centre of our transformational change programme.  This award recognises all the hard work that the team have put in to give excellent customer service to the people of Walsall. The dedication and professionalism of the whole team is inspiring and I am very proud that they have been recognised by the IRRV.”
