Parents and carers are being reminded to submit their applications for a reception or junior school place for their child before the national application deadline on 15 January 2021.
Children born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017 are due to commence reception in September 2021 whilst children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 will transfer from an infant school to a junior school in September 2021.
Applicants can express preferences for up to three schools, and the Walsall on-line application portal allows applications to be made for a place at any primary, infant or junior school in or outside the borough.
Councillor Chris Towe, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills said,
“I urge parents and carers to make sure that you maximise your child’s chances of obtaining a reception or junior school place at one of your preferred schools by submitting your application prior to the national application deadline of 15 January 2021”
“It’s really important that you utilise all of the preferences to ensure that your child is allocated a school that you would be happy for them to attend. Applications received after this deadline will still be processed by our Admissions team but those applications submitted on time will be prioritised.”
