Bonfires and Fireworks in Walsall 2019

Walsall Council is inviting visitors to celebrate Bonfire season with four fantastic community bonfires and fireworks events across the borough.

Alongside a traditional bonfire, spectacular fireworks displays set to music will burst across the sky and visitors can enjoy fun fair rides and food and drink at the family friendly events.

This year, admission to all of the events is by advance tickets. No tickets will be available on the gates. Visitors are asked to arrive early to the events to ensure tickets can be scanned and bags can be checked prior to entering the parks.

Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Councillor Marco Longhi said:

“We know our bonfire events are extremely popular with families in and around Walsall.  Last year’s events were a huge success with a sell-out crowd at the Arboretum bonfire and fireworks show.  Advance ticket admission makes our events easier to access on the night and helps us to keep the focus on providing a safe, family friendly and fun evening for all.  It’s a great opportunity for people to enjoy their local parks and see some truly spectacular firework displays.”

Events will be taking place in Holland Park in Brownhills on Saturday 26 October, Willenhall Memorial Park on Friday 1 November, Walsall Arboretum on Saturday 2 November and King George V Playing Fields in Bloxwich on Tuesday 5 November.

Councillor Longhi added:

“Our bonfire events have always been very low cost to visitors when compared to other large public events in the region and this has been reflected in their popularity. Unfortunately, this meant that overall, the events have run at a loss for several years and this isn’t sustainable.”

“By introducing a requirement for tickets to be purchased in advance and removing parking charges, we have reduced staffing costs and visitors should also see a marked reduction in queueing times. This improved service doesn’t make up the short-fall though and so the pricing structure has been reviewed.”

“With family tickets for the Arboretum available for £25 and for the other venues at £18, this still represents excellent value for money for a great, and more importantly safe, family night out.”
