Communities to unite on Remembrance Sunday

A number of poignant services and parades will be taking place across the borough this Remembrance Day on Sunday 14 November. The community will come together to honour and pay tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces past, present and future this year – due to the COVID19 pandemic this wasn’t fully possible last year. The borough’s annual Observance of Remembrance will be held at the Cenotaph in the town centre to pay tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces past, present and future.

Walsall Council’s innovative “Community Litter Watch” project has been praised at this year’s national Local Government Chronicle Awards. Council Volunteer co-ordinators, Richard Upton and Beth Deeley, recently attended the prestigious Awards event in London. Their project, and a number of other Local Government supported groups, were nominated in the ‘Environmental Services category’.

Walsall Cabinet approves Additional Licensing Scheme for HMOS Houses of Multiple Occupation

Walsall Cabinet has approved an Additional Licensing Scheme for Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) following an extensive 15 week consultation which took place earlier this year.  The proposed Licensing Scheme which went to Cabinet on 20 October will help improve the standard and management of private rented houses in multiple occupation (HMO) in key parts of the borough.
