Walsall is flying the flag with some of the UK’s very best green spaces

Five of Walsall’s greenspaces retained their Green Flag status following this year’s judging – Blackwood Park, Merrion’s Wood, Palfrey Park, Rough Wood and Bentley Haye local nature reserve and Willenhall Memorial Park. This is in addition to the two Community Green Flag Awards awarded last year to the Edible Gardens at Bentley and Chuckery Pocket Park.

Walsall schools celebrate award winning head teachers

Two Walsall schools are celebrating after their head teachers won a prestigious Pearson Teaching Award. Paul Drew of Beacon Primary School in Willenhall and Nin Matharu of King’s Hill Primary School in Darlaston both won coveted Silver ‘Plato’ Awards.

Three Walsall based community organisations have been recognised for all that they do for the communities they serve as new recipients of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Manor Farm Community Association, Midland Langar Seva Society and Spotlight Youth Productions will be presented with their awards at a special ceremony at the Birmingham Hippodrome later this year.
