Council key workers received a boost earlier today when local community representatives dropped off donation of free food as a thank you for all of their hard work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The free garden waste collection service was set to resume for the 2020 season on 6 April 2020. However due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Walsall like many authorities across the UK, decided to suspend the service until further notice in order to successfully maintain the grey and green bin collection service without disruption. An initial limited service for household garden waste collections resumed on 11 May 2020, based on a model of five weekly collections.

The council’s bulky items collections service will resume for Walsall residents under revised arrangements from Thursday 14 May 2020 after it was postponed in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The service will operate Monday to Friday and limit collections to up to three items only for a reduced charge of £10. Residents will be able to call the Clean and Green Services customer contact centre from Monday 11 May 2020 to book a bulky waste collection.
