Walsall Council and South Staffordshire Council have issued a reminder to residents not to dispose of unused fireworks in their recycling bins following a fire in a recycling collection vehicle on Monday 9 November 2020 on the A461 Lichfield Road, Walsall.

Walsall bin collections and tips to continue operating normally

Walsall Council can confirm that its current household waste collections for grey and green bins will continue to operate normally during the current lockdown. Both household waste and recycling centres at Merchants Way, Aldridge and Fryers Road Bloxwich will remain open seven days a week during the second lockdown period, starting 5 November. Visitors to these facilities must continue to wear protective face coverings at all times whilst on site and follow the existing social distancing measures.

Walsall Council seizes fly-tipping vehicle

Early this morning, community protection officers and bailiffs swooped on an address in Birmingham to seize a vehicle involved in a fly-tipping offence in early August.  The offence took place in Darlaston when a van load of commercial and domestic waste was illegally dumped at a fly tipping hot spot. The amount deposited was enough to block the road and cause difficulty and potential danger to highway users.
