Large events in Walsall parks cancelled

Walsall Council has taken the decision to cancel all large green spaces outdoor events until the end of this year. This includes the borough’s annual bonfire and firework events at the Arboretum, King George V Playing Fields, Holland Park and Willenhall Memorial Park. Large numbers were expected to attend the various public gatherings, which could potentially increase the COVID-19 infection rate.

Since the Government's national lockdown to combat the Coronavirus pandemic on 23 March 2020, there has been a ban on the use of coffinless burials in Walsall's cemeteries.

Residents urged to take care during heatwave

Residents in the borough are being encouraged to take extra care during the high temperatures, high levels of UV and very high pollen count levels pollen count being forecast. The Met office have issued a level two alert, with temperatures of around 30 degrees centigrade forecast today (Wednesday 24 June) and tomorrow (Thursday 25 June).
