Merrions Wood Local Nature Reserve


Merrions Wood Local Nature Reserve is a 12ha site located just to the south east of Walsall Town Centre. It is predominantly a mature Oak and Beech Woodland, with some fields and associated hedgerows. Bordered by housing immediately to the south, the open countryside extends south westwards towards Sandwell Valley, and northwards to Barr Beacon and beyond. The site forms part of the Great Barr Conservation Area, is designated a Site of Importance to Nature Conservation, and was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 2003.
