Please accept our apologies for these strict COVID-19 safety measures, we must work together to keep all staff and customers safe during this difficult time. Many of the changes to service are temporary and will change overtime following government and leisure industry guidance. With your assistance we hope to resume to normal operation in the near future.

Swimming

In the early stages of re-opening our facilities swimming will be restricted to lane swimming with just 8 people in a double sized lane. The exceptions to this are teaching pools and the brine pool (at Walsall Gala), where capacities are reduced and bathers are expected to socially distance at all times.

All swims must be booked and paid for in advance, either online or by telephone.

Lanes will be designated as slow, medium or fast, please try and book the lane appropriate to your ability.

Please help us to help you stay safe:

  • Customers are encouraged to arrive ready for their activity and no more than 5 minutes before your booked session.  Leave as promptly as possible after your swim.
  • Although changing villages and showers will be open we ask that you minimise your usage by changing quickly and showering at home if possible.
  • One way routing is in place around the changing village and pool hall, please follow the signage as this will help us all adhere to social distancing.
  • Hand sanitiser is available throughout our facilities, please maintain good hand hygiene throughout your visit.
  • Children 12yrs and above are welcome to book a lane swim but must be able to swim continuous lengths.
  • No children under 12 are permitted in lane swims. Only children accompanied by an adult are allowed in the teaching pools and brine pool, where the usual child supervision ratios apply.
  • Please respect staff and other users during this difficult time.

Child admission policy

  • All children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
  • In teaching pools 1 adult may accompany 3 children aged 4 – 7yrs or 2 children under the age of 4.
  • In all other pools 1 adult may accompany 2 children aged 4 – 7yrs or 1 child under the age of 4.

Racket Sports

Squash and badminton has now resumed with the following restrictions in place as per Badminton England and Squash England guidance:

Squash:

The guidance only permits:

  • Families of the same household or support bubble playing a normal game of squash
  • Players from different households playing the new game of Sides (where each player stays in their own half of the court).  Please click HERE for full guidance from England Squash and for full rules on playing Sides.

Badminton:

  • Both singles play and doubles play can now take place in groups of people from different households, as long as you remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – meaning that four people from different households can play doubles.
  • You can play singles and doubles using all areas of the court, within the respective court markings – if social distancing between adjacent courts cannot be maintained, you should only use the singles court markings.
  • Other than where players are from the same household or part of a support bubble, follow Government advice on staying alert and safe, and:
    • Stay at least two metres away from other players (including during play) as far as possible, when taking breaks and before and after play
    • Do not make physical contact with other players (such as shaking hands or high fiving)
    • Avoid chasing the shuttle down towards another court if other players are using it
    • For doubles, consider agreeing in advance which player will take the shot if a shuttle travels to the centre of the court

To further prevent infection transmission we will not be lending out any equipment.

All bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance by calling reception or online.
