Toy Stories - Exhibition

24 June - 30 December 2017

Remember your favourite toy?  This colourful exhibition will have you thinking "I had one of those!" as toys from 1900 - 1999 take over the museum.  Early toys had either been expensive, miniature works of art; or home-made from whatever spare materials could be found.  Mass-production in the twentieth century meant that toys were easier and cheaper to make, and more affordable to buy.  From rag dolls to Pokemon, toys have evolved over the years but their charm remains the same.  Must-haves, such as Star Wars figures,  Care Bears, Muffin the Mule, and Gameboys can be found in the exhibiton alongside personal and much-loved favourites.

Saturday, 25 November 2017
10.30am - 3.30pm

The Old Hall Club will be here with a large selection of highly collectable Bloxwich-made stainless steel tablewares, which will be available to buy.  This will include some of the more unusual and hard to find pieces!  Nigel Wiggin, chairman of the Old Hall Club, will be on hand to help identify your Old Hall items, and answer any queries you may have.

Blackwork Embroidery Workshop for Adults, with Ann Howden

Saturday, 20 January 2018
10am - 3.30pm

We are delighted to welcome back expert embroiderer Ann Howden.  This time she will be teaching participants the techniques of blackwork.  Historically, blackwork embroidery was used on clothing, shirts and smocks in England in the time of Henry VIII, and is also known as Spanish Work.  The workshop will be taking inspiration from Walsall's historic Kirkpatrick Ironworks and you will explore a mix of integrated patterns and designs.  Kit will include linen, threads and embellishments.

£30.00 - Booking and pre-payment essential.
