Energy company obligation flexibility scheme (ECO Flex)
This is a good source of help if you have a low income (under £28,000 household income) and your home is hard to heat or you are vulnerable to cold.
We have published a set of criteria, in line with government requirements, for the contractors wishing to undertake ECO Flex to use. Contractors will check that the house or flat and resident(s) both qualify.
Our criteria is called an Eco Flex statement of intent. It is valid to end of March 2026.
The government requires all ECO-Flex applications to be considered for approval by the local council. We do this in line with our published ECO-Flex statement.
The money for the works is not ours. We have no control over whether help is available or not.
Typically, anyone with a household income of more than £28,000 will not qualify.
The scheme has been very successful. As at September 2021, around 1400 households across the borough are benefitting from energy efficiency measures paid for directly through funds from the energy companies.
The government is planning to launch ECO and ECO-Flex 4 in April 2022 as soon as their information is updated we will review our statement of intent.
The list below shows the organisations (in alphabetical order) who have completed 2 or more ECO Flex schemes in Walsall since January 2021. We do not recommend any contractors (these or others) and the decision to choose a contractor is solely the responsibility of the grant applicant / home owner.
