ATTENTION – Due to the current COVID-19 situation all members of the School Admissions and Appeals Team are working remotely. Whilst we are working to continue to provide a good level of service, the usual Civic Centre reception based service has been suspended and we are unable to answer telephone enquiries.
We recognise that our service is important to you and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. We are contactable via email and if your email requires a response, we will reply as soon as we can. However, it can take up to 10 working days at very busy times of the year such as on national offer days. Email contact details can be found further down this page.
Please Note : If you have applied for an in year transfer please be advised that this is one of the services that has been affected and understandably decisions will be delayed. However, we will contact you as soon as we have any further information about the progress of your application.
Walsall Council has revised its appeals process in light of new government regulations in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to the current situation regarding social distancing requirements, these regulations allow Admission Appeal Hearings to be held remotely, via video and/or telephone link or for the appeal to be determined based on a written submission. Parents and carers will receive full support to enable them to access the hearing. Officers from Walsall’s Democratic Services Service will email parents once they have submitted their appeal form to clarify the options available to them. Appeals hearings will commence on 1st June 2020.
You may apply for a place at any Walsall school during the school year for your child.
Your child must currently be in the current Reception to Year 11 year groups to make a Mid-Year Admission application. You can list up to nine preferences on the on-line application and can apply for any Walsall school.
If you would like to make a Mid Year Admission application for a school place in another Local Authority school, you should contact that Local Authority's Admissions Team for details of their Mid-Year Admission Process.
A Mid Year application can be submitted for a child at any point between September 2019 and July 2020, however it is important to remember that at the end of each school term: Autumn Term - 20 December 2019, Spring Term - 3 April 2020 & Summer Term - 20 July 2020, all applications will be removed form the admissions database and the waiting lists will close.
Grace Academy Darlaston has a Supplementary Information Form here which needs to be completed alongside the application form.
IMPORTANT: It is the applicant's responsibility to re-submit their application or re-apply for any schools that they would like the child to continue being considered for.
If the child you are applying for has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and requires a place at a special school, applicants should contact the SEN Team on 01922 652871 rather than submitting an application via this portal.
If the child you are applying for is a Looked After Child (LAC) or in Public Care you should contact the LAC Team on 01922 652816 prior to completing this application.
The On-line Application Portal has closed. It will re-open late August 2020.
- This portal is not available between 10pm - 7.30am
Please note: The anticipated processing time for Mid Year applications is at least seven days and at busy times it will be longer.
