Action taken to ensure cemeteries are kept neat and tidy

Regulations at all council cemeteries and the crematorium in the Walsall borough are continually being enforced to ensure that the grounds are neat and tidy for visitors.

Letters are sent out to the owners of exclusive rights of burial in graves where regulations have been breached advising them to ensure that all memorials meet an acceptable standard.

Signs showing excerpts of the rules and regulations have been placed in each of the cemeteries.

If you have any concerns please contact us at the address below.

Burial and cremation times

The council can accept bookings for burial with a minimum of three hours notice. All relevant paperwork must be completed and fees paid before the burial can take place.

See Out of hours Burials for more details.

The council can accept bookings for cremations with three working days notice. All relevant paperwork must be completed and delivered to Willenhall Lawn Cemetery office before 3pm two working days prior to the funeral service. It should be noted that external companies, such as Funeral Directors, may require longer to provide associated services.

See Streetly Crematorium for more details.

Application to erect a memorial

A permit to erect a headstone is required before a Memorial Mason is allowed to install a memorial in Walsall cemeteries. Applications can be forwarded by email from accredited Memorial Masons to Willenhall Lawn Cemetery, Bentley Lane, Willenhall, WV12 4AE for approval.
