On 24 May 2020 the government announced that, as part of its national strategy to reduce infection from COVID-19, every council area in England would be required to create a local outbreak plan by the end of June 2020. National guidance was issued jointly by Public Health England and five key partner agencies.
The Walsall COVID-19 Outbreak Management Plan, led by the Director of Public Health Walsall, is the operational response and management for coronavirus disease and any outbreaks that may occur in the borough. The plan builds on established plans, processes and governance already in place.
The primary aims of the plan are to ensure that COVID-19 is controlled, the spread of infection is reduced and lives are saved. In doing so it will help to return life to as normal as possible, for as many people as possible, in a way that is safe.
The Walsall COVID-19 Outbreak Management Plan will remain a live document, reflecting the evolving nature of guidance, expectations and local experience.
