COVID-19 - For Providers - Supporting vulnerable residents

Information for providers

Walsall Council’s Adult Social Care is closely following guidance from Public Health England to ensure that the people we support are protected and cared for safely in light of the current coronavirus pandemic.

Care Act Easements

This framework sets out how the Council will implement the Care Act Easements that came into force on 31 March 2020 as they are required. The overriding purpose of these easements is to ensure the best possible provision of care to vulnerable people in these exceptional circumstances. Walsall Council remains committed to provide services to those who have an eligible need for care and support, however, due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, it has become necessary to change the way we provide adult social care services and this will require following the national guidelines regarding easements to the Care Act 2014 where necessary. Currently in Walsall we are at stage 2 which gives flexibility but this is not an easement of our Care Act duties and this decision is regularly reviewed in line with the guidance.
