Walsall Early Help - parenting workshop

Parenting 101 is a one-stop workshop with lots of useful hints, tips and advice for parenting.

This workshop will:

  • support parents to develop the skills to implement routines and boundaries within the home and explore ways of engaging and interacting with children to identify any emotional triggers through play
  • allow parents to share strategies they have utilised before; what has worked and what has not worked and identify and set goals for change and will also support parents to look at how they were parented
  • explore how families communicate and explore the challenges faced by parents at times of stress and extra pressures
  • give parents (whether together or apart) the opportunity to look at their relationship and how it affects children
  • give parents the opportunity to explore their own experiences and journey through the life of a teenager and to create a tool kit of skills and knowledge to best support their teenager through their adolescent years
  • look at parents’ experiences, using a reflective and trauma informed approach to discuss links between their own experiences in childhood and their current parenting experiences

You can attend any of the stand-alone sessions that would suit your timescale. You can dip in and out if you feel that you would like to refresh your knowledge at any time; however it will be the same content delivered on a weekly basis.

Who can attend?

Any parents, carers or guardians of primary age and teenage children living in Walsall who would like to deepen their understanding of children and young people’s brain development, relationships and add to their parenting skills.
