The Children's Disability Register is a confidential record of information about any child or young person (aged 0-18) in Walsall with a special educational need and/or disability (SEND). Every local authority must keep one.
It's your choice if you want to register, and you don't need to be included to access our support and services. You can remove your details at any time. This information is used to help us plan services and meet the needs of children with SEND and their families.
Choosing to join
Any child or young person in Walsall with SEND can join the register. You won't have to provide any proof or have a diagnosis, and there are no assessments. You'll stay on the register until you are 18 years old. Your details are automatically removed when you reach 18 years of age.
We use the the information you provide to help us to plan services and meet the needs of children and young people with SEND and their families. We may contact you if we need extra information for the register.
Being included on the Children's Disability Register will not affect your entitlement to services. Your entitlement to services is based on an assessment of your needs. The register is not linked to any other registers or records held by us, including the Child Protection Register.
