European Union European Regional Development Fund

What are the output indicators for the ERDF programme?

The output indicators are specified in each call for proposals document.  Definitions and reporting evidence is described in the “Output Indicator Definitions Guidance for the European Regional Development Fund.”

Which organisations can apply for ERDF?

Please refer to the National Eligibility Rules.

Do I need to provide match funding?

Yes. Applicants will need to secure eligible match funding usually at a 50% intervention rate.

Can I use ERDF to fund statutory activity?

No. ERDF cannot be used to fund delivery that is a statutory requirement of an organisation. Equally, ERDF cannot be used to replace statutory funds lost as a result of, for example, budget cuts or change in policy.

Who makes the decisions regarding funding?

MHCLG, as the Managing Authority for ERDF will ultimately make final decisions on the awarding of funds. However, a local ESIF Sub-Committee has been established to provide local advice and recommendations to MHCLG. Government have stated that no projects will receive ERDF support which does not have the backing of the local Sub-Committee.

Once approved, when do we receive the money?

The programme works on the principle of defrayed expenditure. This means that money must be spent and claimed back from the ERDF programme, on a monthly or quarterly basis. It is important to bear this in mind when planning your project.

Where can I find current calls?

All ERDF calls are published on the ESIF Funding Finder.

BCTA will also disseminate call information via our website, social media and e-newsletters.

Where can I get help or support with accessing ERDF?

If you have an idea for an ERDF project please get in touch with the team who can help to develop your proposal and ensure that it is eligible and compliant with ERDF regulations and national funding rules.

The team will organise ‘pre-contract’ training and workshops to ensure your organisation is fully ready to apply for and deliver an ERDF project.

We will also disseminate programme information via our website, social media accounts, and e-newsletters to keep you up to date with the latest funding calls and programme opportunities.

The team can provide support to help you publicise your project.
