BCTA were excited to hear that Deputy Director for European Programmes, David Malpass visited our region on Thursday 9th May. Peter Thomason, the LEP lead for Black Country also attended. Both were keen visit one of the Black Country ERDF projects to see what they were delivering on the ground. MHCLG Contract Manager, Tom Wood thought the RAISE project would be a great one to visit.

The RAISE project (Raising Aspirations/Inspiring Self Employment and Social Enterprise) delivered by Access to Business and SWEDA, aims to support those exploring self-employment and equip them with the knowledge and skills required to build a successful business. The programme includes an introductory session, 1:1 IAG appointment, access to workshops ranging from business planning and business finance to marketing and networking opportunities. Access to Business also offers support to existing businesses to develop and grow through the RAISE within their first year of business.

Our visitors met with CEO of Access to Business, Josie Kelly and the staff team to gain an overview of the project. They heard some beneficiary success stories and met with some participants who had received assistance through the project. It was a fantastic opportunity to show case the project and the great results for those supported by EU funds.
