Contractors have moved on site as a major Town Centre redevelopment gets underway led by developer Cordwell Property Group. The Wisemore Central site, adjacent to Tesco Extra, will bring a 60-bedroom Travelodge Hotel, a McDonald's outlet and a further 15,000 sq ft of leisure and retail premises to the town, including Explore Learning and GDK.

The scheme will transform the derelict site and generate more than 100 jobs.

Financial support for the redevelopment has come from the West Midlands Combined Authority’s Collective Investment Fund which has provided £6.9m of investment.

The scheme is due to be completed at the end of the year.

Simon Neilson, Executive Director for Economy and Environment, said “It is fantastic news that construction is now underway on the Wisemore Central scheme. This is a prominent site along the ring-road corridor which will enhance the Town Centre offer and create many local jobs once completed later this year”.
