Walsall Council Employee Survey 2026

The Walsall Council Staff Survey 2026 launches on 23 February, providing an important opportunity for all staff to share their views and ideas about the council as a place to work. The last survey took place in October 2023.

Who will receive the survey

All members of staff (including agency workers, casual staff and IR35s) with an active walsall.gov.uk email address, and those who have provided a personal email address on One Source, will receive an email link to complete the survey. Staff who do not have a walsall.gov.uk or personal email address registered on One Source will receive the survey in the post or via their employment agency.

About the survey

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete.

The survey is being delivered by external market research company MEL Research on behalf of the council and is completely anonymous. At no time are individual responses attributable to a member of staff — either in any data or reports — provided to Walsall Council.

Why your feedback matters

Our survey results help us monitor trends, make informed decisions, and support senior leadership in understanding how staff feel, our strengths as an employer, and where we need to improve. Insights also inform key HR strategies.

The research will allow the council to assess its workforce’s journey through the monitoring of trends since the first survey in 2017 and last in 2023. In doing so it will ensure that key actions are identified and developed that best meets its workforce needs both now and over the coming years.

Help us improve the response rate

In 2023 the survey achieved a 53% response rate. This time we want to achieve an even bigger response — the higher this is, the more representative and meaningful the results will be so please take the time to respond.

Support a local charity

Another great reason to respond is that our survey partner, MEL Research, will be donating 50p for every completed survey to charity. In early February we polled employees and 62% of respondents chose Acorns Children’s Hospice as the charity they want to support, so your response will make a real difference locally too.
