Ask for an anti-social behaviour case review

If you’ve submitted anti-social behaviour (ASB) complaints but you’re unhappy with the outcome, you can ask for an ASB case review. This means the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) can look again at how different services have handled your reports.

The review brings teams together to share information and find a better outcome for you.

Who can get a review (the local threshold)

You can ask for an ASB case review if you have made three or more ASB reports in six months to:

  • Walsall Council
  • West Midlands Police
  • your housing provider

You must have made each report within one month of the problem happening.

A victim can be a person, a business, or a community group. Someone else can ask for a review for you, as long as you agree.

We may also carry out a review if the behaviour keeps happening, causes harm, could cause harm, or if the response so far hasn’t been good enough. This can happen even if there are fewer than three reports.

We look at every request individually.

What a review can’t look at

You cannot use an ASB case review to challenge a decision made by the Crown Prosecution Service or by a court. These decisions are final.

It’s not a replacement for an organisation’s complaints process. If you want to complain about how an agency has acted, you should use that agency’s own complaints procedure.

How to apply for an ASB case review

If you meet the local threshold conditions above, you can ask for an ASB case review by completing our form (below). The form will ask you to confirm that you want the review to go ahead, and that you agree that your details can be shared with our partner agencies.

You'll need to provide enough information for us to look at your case properly.

You can also contact us by email, phone or post.

What happens next

When you give us the information we need and consent to share it, the CSP will check your request. We’ll tell you within five working days if your ASB case review is accepted.

If your request doesn’t meet the conditions, we may still pass it to colleagues for support.

If we accept your request, we’ll ask other agencies for the information we need.

The review may happen in a meeting or through written information only. This depends on the case.

You can tell us how the ASB has affected you. You can do this in writing or by joining part of the review.

We will finish the review within 15 working days. We’ll tell you the outcome within five working days after that.

If the case is complex, or agencies are under pressure, we may extend the timeline by up to 10 working days. We will let you know if this happens.

How to appeal a decision

You can appeal if the review did not follow the correct process, or if important facts or evidence were missed. You must appeal within 28 days of getting your outcome.

To appeal, contact us by email, phone or post.
