How to pay your business rates

You can pay your business rates:

  • by direct debit
  • by standing order
  • online or by telephone

Direct debit

We recommend paying your business rates by direct debit. This will save you time and could save you money.

Payments are made over 10 months, from 1 April to 1 January. This is based on a full year's bill issued in March. Your bill and instalments will be adjusted if you start paying business rates later in the year.

You have the option to pay over 12 months instead of 10. The number of months depends on when you registered. You can set up a direct debit online.

Standing order

You can set up a standing order to pay your business rates. Your business rates account number will need to be included with every payment. Our bank details are:

Barclays Bank PLC

Sort Code: 20-90-73

Direct Credit Account: 00075795

Online and telephone payments

You can pay your business rates online or by telephone. We accept the following UK issued debit or credit cards:

  • Visa
  • Visa Debit (Delta)
  • Mastercard
  • Switch/Maestro
  • Electron
  • JCB
  • Laser

We don't accept:

  • American Express
  • Diners Club
  • Visa Purchasing

Make an online payment or contact us to pay by telephone. You can make a payment 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our telephone payment line is an automated service that requires a touch tone phone. You'll need your 8 digit account number and debit/credit card. Your call should take no longer than five minutes.

Refunds

If you've overpaid on your business rates, contact us about a refund.
