What’s On Walsall – August 2025

Summer events continue across Walsall this August. Walsall Pride returns to the Arboretum with a full day of celebration, live music, and community spirit. Meanwhile, The New Art Gallery Walsall and Walsall Leather Museum are packed with hands-on creative workshops to keep all ages inspired.

Walsall Arboretum Extension
Walsall Pride is back for 2025, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever! Expect non-stop entertainment, jaw-dropping drag, fierce live music, and electrifying DJs spinning beats that'll keep you dancing all day and night!

Paper Umbrellas
Saturday 19 July – Sunday 31 August. Free, drop-in during Gallery opening hours. All ages.
Create a paper plate rainy brolly or fold paper into a sunny parasol. Decorate using a variety of art materials. Will your umbrella shelter you from the rain, the sun or something else?
Collections Tour
Saturday 2 August, 2pm. Free
Join Gallery Assistant Rob Conway for a tour of some of the highlights of the Garman Ryan Collection.

Sunday Art Club
Sundays, 12-3pm. Age 4+. Free, drop-in.
The Gallery’s weekly art club for children and young people. Meet artists and creatives and learn to paint, print, sculpt, craft and more!

Wednesdays For All: Home Dioramas
Wednesday 6 August, 11am-3pm. Free, drop-in. Ages 4+
Fun, creative workshop for all the family. Make rooms of card, paper and matchsticks, inspired by artist Chantal Pitts.
Walk & Draw
Saturday 9 August, 11am-12.30pm. Free. Every second Saturday of the month.
Artist Al Fawson leads these fast paced and fun workshops. Make speedy sketches of artworks in the Collections and temporary exhibitions, the Gallery’s architecture, the magnificent views from the Gallery’s windows, and the local area, including the wildlife along the canal, public sculptures and historical buildings along the high street. The focus will vary each month, therefore attendees are welcome to book onto all sessions, but this is not necessary.
Baby & Me
Wednesday 13 August, 10.30am-12noon & 12.30-2pm.
Suitable for 0-24 months. £3.50 per child, places are limited, booking essential. Book at Reception or call 01922 654400.
Multi-sensory sessions for parents, carers and their babies. Explore colours and light projections, discover new smells, feel new textures in our touchy-feely books and relax in comfy cushions whilst you listen to a short story and meet other new parents.

Senior Citizens Orchestra Concert
Thursday 7 August, 2pm. £2 (tickets available on the door)
The Senior Citizens Orchestra perform bi-monthly concerts at Walsall Arena and Arts Centre. Their programmes always offer a great mix of fabulous music and feature a whole range of popular classics and favourite show tunes. The concerts also include invited guests and performers.
Dance & Performance Workshop
Monday 18 August, 10am-1pm. For up to 18 year olds. No previous experience required.
A workshop led by internationally renowned dance artist and choreographer Rikkai Scott. This fully inclusive session welcomes all skill levels, whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your performance craft. Scott’s workshops focus on using movement as a tool for self-expression, storytelling, and confidence-building, combining styles like hip hop, contemporary, and tap. Expect a vibrant, supportive space where creativity comes first—whether you've danced before or not.

This rural retreat at the heart of Walsall town centre opened in 1874. It spans 170 acres and includes Hatherton Lake, the country park and the extension. The park includes gardens, green spaces, play areas, and sports facilities.

Lakeside Live ‘25
Sunday 17 August, 12-6pm. Free
Walsall Arboretum Bandstand
Twenty local acts including Aayushi, Mozzamanauts, Notion of Fortune and more playing genres such as rock, funk, reggae, folk and blues. The day will also include food and drink, with a licensed bar provided by the Fountain Inn.
