Walsall residents reminded to stay well as hot weather continues this week
Published on
As the hot weather continues into the coming days, Walsall residents are being reminded to stay well and take precautions.

The Met Office, in conjunction with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), has updated its heat-health alert to yellow for the West Midlands, which is in place until 09:00 on Monday 19 June.
“ We are continuing to see a period of warmer weather across the country, so it is important that everyone ensures they can stay safe and well by keeping hydrated and cool while enjoying the sun.
If you know of any family, friends and neighbours who may be vulnerable, ask if they need any support and make sure they are aware of the advice and up to date with the weather forecast. “
“ While many look forward to warm, sunny weather, it is important to remember that some people struggle to cope in the heat. Look out for older people, those with pre-existing health conditions and younger children who may need help to keep cool. Close curtains on rooms that face the sun to keep indoor spaces cool.
If you’re spending time outdoors, remember to travel with bottled water, apply sunscreen frequently and protect yourself from the sun during the hottest hours of the day, between 11am and 3pm.
If you or others feel unwell, get dizzy, weak or have intense thirst move to a cool place, rehydrate and cool your body down. Call NHS 111 if you need advice. In an emergency dial 999.
By taking these simple steps, we can enjoy the hot weather safely and help people who might be more vulnerable as the temperatures rise. “
