Walsall residents invited to discover family history at free Genealogy Workshops

Walsall Libraries are inviting residents across the borough to learn more about their ancestry and local heritage. Through the national cultural festival, Heritage Open Days, four of Walsall’s libraries will be holding free genealogy workshops throughout September.
The Interested in Discovering Your Family History workshops are free sessions led by a local genealogist and will provide practical guidance on researching family history and building a family tree.

We are proud to offer residents in Walsall the chance to learn new researching skills while uncovering their own personal heritage. “
The one-hour workshops are designed for anyone interested in tracing their roots, whether they are complete beginners or have already started exploring their family history. Participants will learn about resources available for genealogical research and will have the opportunity to carry out online investigations into their own family backgrounds.
Sessions are running on Saturday 19 September 2026 across four of Walsall’s libraries. Places are limited to 10 participants per session so advance booking is required.
