Walsall Council will host a flag raising ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day at 10:30am on Monday 23 June 2025 outside the Council House.

The event is an annual opportunity for the nation to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops and service families to veterans and cadets.

The ceremony will be led by the Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Louise Harrison, who will raise the Armed Forces flag during a short civic service.

“ It is a privilege to lead this year’s Armed Forces Day flag raising ceremony in Walsall. This occasion gives us all an opportunity to come together and reflect on the courage and commitment of our Armed Forces personnel, past and present.

On behalf of the borough, I extend heartfelt thanks to our servicemen and women and their families. Your sacrifice and service are deeply valued. “

The Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Louise Harrison

This year’s ceremony comes in the same year as the 80th anniversary of VE Day, commemorating 80 years since Victory in Europe during the Second World War.

“ Armed Forces Day is our chance to recognise the outstanding service of our Armed Forces community here in Walsall and across the country. I’m proud that our borough continues to stand firmly behind those who serve, have served, and their families. “

Councillor Adam Hicken, Walsall Council’s Armed Forces Champion
