Walsall Council’s summer bank holiday opening times – August 2026

Please see below a general overview of details on leisure attractions, libraries, waste collections, recycling centres, markets and other core services.

All council office sites, including Walsall Civic Centre will be closed on Monday.

Household Waste and Recycling Centres

• Fryers Road Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC), Bloxwich – Normal opening hours 
• Middlemore Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC), Aldridge – Normal opening hours

You must be a Walsall resident to use the HWRCs. Residents are reminded to bring proof of residency when accessing either centre site. Appropriate identification documents approved are a photocard driving licence, council tax letter, or recent utility bill. 

Please note that all vans and trailers must be pre-booked before arrival to the centres, and strictly no commercial or business waste will be accepted. Pedestrians walking in with waste will not be permitted entry.

Commercial Waste Collections

There will be no change to bin collections for commercial waste customers. Please ensure your bin is available for collection.

Household Waste Collections

Household waste collections are scheduled to proceed as normal on Monday. To check your collection schedule, you can use the postcode finder to check your collection dates.

There is no change to bulky waste collections.

Walsall Leisure

There will be revised opening on Monday 31 August 2026 for Walsall Leisure Centres:

• Bloxwich and Oak Park Active Living Centres will be open from 7am to 3.30pm, with no live classes or Swim Academy sessions running.
• Darlaston and Walsall Gala Swimming and Fitness Centres will be closed. Members are welcome to use Bloxwich and Oak Park centres instead.

Walsall Libraries

All libraries will be closed on Monday 31 August 2026. Some libraries will also have revised opening times for Tuesday 1 to Thursday 3 September 2026.

Walsall Markets

Bloxwich, Walsall and Willenhall markets are closed on Monday 31 August 2026.

The New Art Gallery Walsall

The New Art Gallery Walsall will be closed.
