Walsall Council Benefits Team shortlisted for three national IRRV Awards

Walsall Council's Benefits team has been shortlisted in three categories at the 2026 Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) Performance Awards, recognising its commitment to delivering innovative, resident-focused services.

The team has been shortlisted for:

  • Benefits and/or Welfare Reform Team of the Year
  • Excellence in Innovation (Local Authority Service Delivery)
  • Excellence in Partnership (The Fight Against Poverty)

The national IRRV Performance Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across revenues, benefits and valuation services in local government.

The three award nominations recognise the Benefits team's continued commitment to improving outcomes for residents through innovation, collaboration and outstanding customer service.

The submissions highlight the team's work to increase benefit take-up, support residents through welfare reform and help prevent homelessness by ensuring people receive the financial support they are entitled to. They also recognise the team's innovative approach to service delivery, making it easier for residents to access support, alongside its successful partnership with Policy in Practice to tackle poverty and improve financial resilience across the borough.

The nominations also reflect the team's strong culture of continuous improvement, with staff expertise, collaboration and dedication helping to deliver meaningful change for residents every day.
