Volunteers spruce up Reedswood Park

Published on

Reedswood park has been spruced up thanks to the efforts of a volunteer team brought together through Walsall Council’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSR).

Before and after volunteers spruced up Reedswood Park

Volunteers from Taylor Woodrow and West Midlands Combined Authority spent four hours on August 19 carrying out a variety of tasks to improve the appearance and accessibility of the park.

The work included managing wildflower meadows to encourage biodiversity, creating new habitats for local wildlife, painting A-frame chicane barriers, revitalising the park’s ladder board, clearing overhanging trees along pathways, and repairing steps to make access easier for visitors.

The project was further supported by Crown Paints, who donated materials, with help from staff at their Decorating Centre in Walsall.

“ This project shows the real difference that volunteers and community partners can make in just a short space of time.

Their hard work has improved Reedswood Park for local residents and visitors, and I’d like to thank everyone involved for their time, energy and generosity “

Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Health and Wellbeing
Walsall Council

Matthew Peniket, Senior Public Liaison and Social Value Coordinator at Taylor Woodrow, said, “At Taylor Woodrow, we’re committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we work.

“The improvements at Reedswood Park reflect our dedication to creating safer, greener, and more welcoming spaces for local residents. Through our ‘Stand Out and Make a Difference Days’, our teams are proud to contribute to lasting change that supports wellbeing, biodiversity, and sustainable development.”

The improvements form part of ongoing efforts to enhance Walsall’s parks and green spaces, supporting biodiversity and creating more welcoming environments for the community.
