Residents invited to have their say on Walsall’s future housing strategy
Published on
Walsall Council has launched a public consultation asking residents, community groups and partners to help shape the borough’s long-term approach to housing.
The Walsall Borough Housing Strategy will set out the vision and framework for future housing across our borough up to 2040 to ensure that people have access to high-quality, safe, inclusive and energy-efficient homes.
The draft strategy is being developed to align with our Walsall 2040 Borough Plan, as well as relevant local, regional and national policy. The consultation will run from 15th December 2025 and close on 26th January 2026.
The draft strategy has been developed using detailed evidence about local housing needs and challenges and draws on insight from housing providers, developers, landlords, investors and voluntary & community sector organisations. The emerging strategy highlights the importance of improving affordability, increasing the supply of specialist and supported housing, and delivering the right types of homes in the right locations.
“ Good housing is the foundation for strong communities; it affects every part of our lives. We want a future where every resident has access to a safe and affordable homes.
We are asking residents to shape this plan with us. Their local knowledge and lived experience is vital in helping us make the right decisions and invest in the changes that matter most “
To inform our Housing Strategy, we want to hear your views on:
- Draft vision – the long-term housing ambition for the future
- Draft Big Moves – the four bold priorities and changes that will achieve the vision
- Draft objectives – the goals to deliver the Big Moves and vision
The final strategy will be used to guide council decisions, prioritise investment and resources, and shape initiatives and partnership working that address the complex housing challenges facing Walsall borough today and into the future.
