Quit smoking with free in-person support on No Smoking Day at Walsall Manor Hospital
Published on
Walsall Council and Walsall NHS Healthcare Trust are encouraging residents who smoke to take the first step towards a healthier future by attending a free stop smoking day drop-in event on Wednesday 11 March at Walsall Manor Hospital.
The drop-in event forms part of national No Smoking Day and will give staff, patients and visitors the chance to speak directly with trained stop smoking advisors, and health professionals.
On the day, people will be able to learn about the support available from Walsall’s stop smoking services, including personalised quit plans tailored to individual needs, information on nicotine replacement therapies and regulated vape options, and guidance on downloading the Quit with Bella app (fully funded by Walsall Council).
With no appointment needed, people can simply drop in, ask questions and explore the support that is available.
Smoking remains the biggest risk factor for preventable illness and death in Walsall, and evidence shows that people who use specialist stop smoking support are up to three times more likely to quit successfully than those doing it alone.
“ Stopping smoking is one of the most positive steps you can take for your health, and we know it isn’t easy to do on your own. That’s why events like this are so important. They ensure the experts are easily visible, bringing practical help directly to you. Whether you’re ready to quit now or just thinking about it, I’d encourage anyone who smokes and wants to quit, to come along on 11 March and see what support is available. “
“ Pop in to see us from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday 11 March in the A&E waiting area, and by Costa Coffee on Level One of the Manor Hospital. We will be joined by Be Well Walsall and Quit with Bella, as we work together towards a smokefree Walsall and to answer any questions you may have about quitting smoking. Take the first step towards a smokefree, healthier you. “
The event also supports the wider national quit smoking campaign, which focuses on helping smokers turn the desire to quit into successful quit attempts by connecting them with proven tools and local services.
