Pumpkin donation helps bring Halloween magic to Walsall parks

Published on

Families across Walsall enjoyed a week of spooky fun this half term thanks to the generosity of AF Blakemore & Son Ltd, whose pumpkin donation helped light up parks and community spaces across the borough.

In partnership with Walsall Council’s Healthy Spaces team, the company donated 120 pumpkins to support a series of Halloween Trails and Pumpkin Carving Sessions held in local parks.

The events took place across five days and welcomed more than 50 families and 112 children who took part in seasonal activities designed to get people active outdoors while celebrating together as a community.

From pumpkin carving at Willenhall Memorial Park and Walsall Arboretum, to spooky woodland trails and crafts at Palfrey Park, Blackwood Park, Moorcroft Wood Local Nature Reserve, and King George V Playing Fields, each session offered residents a safe, free, and family-friendly way to enjoy their local green spaces.

AF Blakemore’s contribution didn’t stop at donations, with several employees volunteering their time to help run activities, supporting council staff on site and engaging with local families.

“ This is a fantastic example of how local businesses can make a real difference in their communities.

“This donation helped bring our parks to life this half term, giving children and families the chance to take part in fun and creative activities close to home. We’re extremely grateful for the support. “

Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Health and Wellbeing

“ We loved helping Walsall Healthy Spaces add a bit of Halloween magic by donating pumpkins for their community activities.

“At A.F. Blakemore community is always at the heart of what we do. It was fantastic to see families getting creative together. “

Chantal Doyle, Community Engagement Officer at AF Blakemore & Son Ltd
