Planned roadworks at cemeteries to improve access

Published on

Essential road improvement works are taking place at Walsall cemeteries over the next two weeks to repair potholes and improve access for visitors.

Bluebells at a Church

The works, which will see road repairs carried out to improve visitor access, will mean cemeteries are closed to vehicles on the following dates:

  • Bloxwich Cemetery – Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 October
  • Ryecroft Cemetery – Wednesday 8, Thursday 9 and Friday 10 October
  • James Bridge and Bentley Cemeteries – Monday 13 October

Cemeteries will remain open to pedestrians daily from 8.00am until 5.00pm, with gates locked at the usual closing time. Visitors are asked to follow any instructions from the works team while the improvements are carried out.

There will be no disruption to funeral services, as no burials or interments are scheduled on the affected dates. The works are confined to the internal cemetery roads, and external roads will not be affected.

“ We know how important our cemeteries are to residents, and these works are about making sure they remain safe and accessible.

“Over time, some of the internal roads have deteriorated, these improvements will provide smoother and safer routes for both vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring a better experience for everyone who visits. “
