Both perpetrators will now pay hundreds of pounds in fines for improperly disposing of their waste.

“ It's disheartening to witness such blatant disregard for our local communities. We should all take pride in our towns and high streets.

Pelsall High Street is equipped with numerous public litter bins, leaving no excuse for this behaviour.

I commend our community protection team for their diligence in prosecuting these individuals for their careless actions.

Those who treat our borough like a dumping ground will face consequences. “

Councillor Adam Hicken, Portfolio Holder for Children’s and Safer Communities

Mr Mitchell Hedges of Goscote Lane, Pelsall, was caught depositing takeaway litter from a car onto Pelsall High Street on 13 January 2025.

Magistrates addressed the case in Birmingham court on 21 May 2025. Here, Hedges was fined £40 for the offence, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £16, and associated costs of £180, bringing the total fine to £236.

On the same high street, Mr Christian Orton of Station Road, Derby, also deposited takeaway food packaging out of a car.

He was caught littering at this location on two occasions: the first on 22 July 2024, and the second five days later on 28 July 2024.

During a hearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 28 May 2025, Orton was fined £440 for the two littering offences. Additionally, Orton was charged a £176 victim surcharge and £418.44 in other costs, bringing the total amount to £1,034.44.
